Dr. C. J. Brown was installed president of the Orleans Parish Medical Society at an annual dinner at the Roosevelt last night. The dinner marked the 73rd installation meeting by the society.
Other officers installed were Dr. Boni J. DeLaureal, president-elect who will take office in 195.1; Dr. Sam Hobson, first vice-president; Dr. John J. Irwin, second vice-president; Dr. Howard Mahorner, third vice-president; Dr. N. J. Tessitore, secretary; Dr. J. O. -Weilbaecher, treasurer; Dr. Eugene H. Countiss, librarian; Dr. E. L. Leckert and Dr. Charles B. Odom.
Dr. Brown succeeded Dr. J. Kelly Stone. Dr. Stone will serve on the board during 1950.
The new president rapped the "socialistic" trend in the United! States. He said:
"If those who wish to extend the social security to cover every possible human financial problem from the cradle to the grave have it their way, it won't be long until the federal, government will supply all or part of the livelihood of practically everyone in the country.
"The drive for federal compulsory health insurance is a good example of that possibility."
