A building program for LSU, with priority for expanding tie medical school in New Orleans, was discussed by Gov. Long and university officials yesterday.
LSU Board Chairman Thomas E. Leigh, of Monroe, said after the conference the governor expressed "interest in and support for three building proposals,"
These proposals are expansion of the medical school; closing in the football stadium, and building an auditorium.
Leigh said the university officials did not lay specific plans for these before the governor but discussed them in general terms "along with accomplishments and other needs of the university."
However, A. A. Fredericks, the governor's executive assistant, who attended the conference, said the projects probably would cost $4 to $5 million dollars.
He added the governor is chiefly interested in the medical school project.
"The governor told them," Fredericks said, "he would try to help them in any way he could to raise the money."
