It was an intricate lung operation, performed in Charity Hospital and shown via television in an improvised theater in The Roose-velt.
The audience was more than 400 leading surgeons from all over the world attending the first scientific session of the 13th Congress of the International Society for Surgery.
The entire operative program at Charity was televised, from 7:30 a. m. until noon yesterday.

More than 20 operations, performed by Prof. James D. Rives, professor of the Department of Surgery, Louisiana State University, and his staff; and by Dr. Alton Ochsner of Tulane and his staff, were shown in detail.
The television showing was through the facilities of WDSU. A second operative schedule will be televised for the delegates at their Thursday morning session.
More than 40 countries are represented at the Congress. The delegates include many world- renowned surgeons.
