...Grants totaling $38,000 were given the Louisiana State university school of medicine for teaching and research. A grant of $14,000 was given, according to Dr. William W. Fry, dean of the school, for the general improvement and broadening of the scope of teaching in relation to heart disease and improvement of the teaching facilities. Dean Fry said that the grants for research amounting to $24,000 will cover research in the field of blood coagulation and its relation to vascular diseases: physiology and the factors of congenital heart disease; and in the department of anatomy to study the embryology of the animal heart.
