The Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors, meeting here has accepted a $37,300 grant from, the U. S. Public Health Service for training in psychiatry.
The grant is for the years July 1, 1949, to June 30, 1952. It is for undergraduate training in psychiatry at the Medical School in New Orleans.
President Harold Stoke said after the meeting that he would hire a trained psychiatrist for the i medical school in an effort to stimulate psychiatric training in the state.
The board also approved a $2000 grant from Abbott Laboratories to the medical school for studies on surgical nutrition, under direction of Dr. Harry D. L. Kaye of the medical school.
