Surgeons from all sections of the state will converge at the Royal Orleans Hotel Sunday in the 17th annual meeting of the Surgical Association of Louisiana.
Scientific papers will be delivered by three out-of-state surgeons and eight Louisiana surgeons, said Dr. Donald B. Williams, Lafayette, association president.
OUT-OF-STATE speakers will include Drs. J. Harvey Johnston, Jackson, Miss.; W. Dean Warren, professor and chairman of the Department of Surgery, University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, Fla., and Orvar Swenson, surgeon-in-chief at the Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago.
Louisiana surgeons who will take part in the scientific sessions Sunday morning are Dr. Williams and Drs. Patrick H. Hanley, and Irving Redler, both of New Orleans.
THE AFTERNOON session will consist of a special panel program on chest injuries, with the following doctors as panelists:
Charles A. Beskin, Baton Rouge; Robert J. Schramel, Dennis Rosenberg, Melville J. Sternberg and Bertram A, Glass, all of New Orleans. Dr. Glass will serve as moderator.
Boyce Holleman, a Mississippi district attorney, will speak at a banquet Sunday evening on the topic, "Justice — Quo Vadis?"
Other officers of the Louisiana Surgical Association are Dr. H. Reichard Kahle, New Orleans, first vice-president, Dr. Hugh C. Ilgenfritz, Shreveport, second vice - president, and Drs. J. Morgan Lyons and Richard L. Buck, Doth of New Orleans, treasurer and secretary, respectively.
