A memorial service will be held for Dr. Rufus Wade Fox at 3 p. m. Sunday at the First Unitarian Church, 1800 Jefferson Ave., following cremation.
Dr. Rufus was associate professor of anatomy at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He died yesterday at Touro Infirmary after a short illness. He was 44.
A member of the LSU faculty for 11 years, Dr. Fox was considered an authority in the field of vertebrate zoology. He was a native of Hilton Village, Va.
Dr. Fox was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi honor societies, as well as the Society for Experimental Biology in Medicine, the American Association of Anatomists, the American Institute of Biological Sciences and the American Ornithologists Union.
Survivors include his wife, Dr. Marjorie Fox, associate professor of biology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, and a 6-year-old son.
