Funeral services for Chester S. Fresh, 56, was held today at St. Francis Cabrini Church in Alexandria. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park at Pineville. Dr. Fresh died Monday in Veterans Hospital in Alexandria following a long illness. He was a native of New Orleans.
He attended Warren Easton High School, where he was a star football player. Dr. Fresh coached an American Legion baseball team in 1928 which won the Little World Series. He studied medicine at Louisiana State University and later taught at the LSU medical school.
Dr. Fresh served as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ellen Fresh; a son, Batson Fresh; a daughter, Ellen; six brothers, Joseph, Harold, Howard, Forest, Russell, and Leonard Fresh; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Auchneaux, Mrs. H. J. Wrigley, and Mrs. Walter Blakesley.
