A $36,530 research grant has been received by Dr. James B. Heneghan instructor in surgery, Louisiana State University School of Medicine for the study of tumors in germ-free animals.
Source of the grant, which will run for 26 months from July 1, is the American Cancer Society.
The grant will allow Dr. Hen-eghan, in association with other faculty researchers in the Department of Surgery to expand their studies of the growth of transplanted tumors in animals which have been raised in a germ-free environment.
Research to be carried out under the grant will be centered about two laboratories located in the downtown New Orleans area, the LSU School of Medicine building and in quarters leased by the university at 731 Magnolia st., for use as a germ-free laboratory.
