Deadline for the receipt of applications for cancer research grants is Nov. 1, the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans Inc. said Wednesday.
These cancer research grants are made available through the cooperation of Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans Inc., and Cancer Society of Greater Baton Rouge Inc., both of which are United Fund Agencies.
Dr. Oscar Creech, chairman of; Research Advisory Committee,! stated that during the past five years cancer research grants: have been made in leukemia, chemotherapy, viruses and radiation, biochemistry, biology, endocrinology and pathology.
The individuals receiving basic cancer grants at educational institutions and hospitals in this area have worked at Tulane Medical School, LSUNO, LSU Medical School, Loyola, Dillard, Xa-
vier, Charity Hospital, Ochsner Foundation, Veterans' Administration Hospital and Touro Infir-j mary.
Total monies allocated for basic cancer research since 1958 are $263,672.66, said Dr. Creech. Application forms and additional information may be obtained at the Cancer Association offices, 603 Godchaux bldg., 527 Canal st.
