r. Henry P. Kothmann, Jr., 25-year-old Charity Hospital staff physician, died early Sunday of a heart attack after collapsing at his home at about 11:30 p. m. Saturday.
Dr. Kothmann died in the hospital emergency room at 12:15 a. m. despite the efforts of his colleagues on the staff. 4 He had complained of chest pains shortly before his collapse, a hospital spokesman told the coroner's office.
The young physician had just finished his internship Saturday morning and was to begin his residency in pediatrics on Monday.
Dr. Kothmann was graduated from Louisiana State University! School of Medicine in 1962 aft-! er receiving his bachelor of artsj degree from Loyola University! in 1958. While at Loyola he was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and wag a member of Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Gamma Fraternity and Beta Beta Beta honor society.
He also attended St. Rose of Lima Elementary School and Jesuit High School, where he was a member of the band. He was born in New Orleans in 1937.
He resided at 3502 N. Rampart st. with his wife, the former Kathleen Nagel. j
Other survivors include two: sons, Henry Paul III and Edward Charles Kothmann, and his mother, Mrs. Geraldine Rodriguez Anderson.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a. m. from the auxiliary funeral home of Jacob Schoen and Sons, 3827 Canal st. They will be followed by a Requiem Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 2545 Bayou rd. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
