In preparation for embarking on training tours to Latin America, eight advanced medical students have completed orientation courses at the Louisiana State University Medical School.
The eight are from varied sections of the nation. All have been classified as medical student, fellows in the LSU Inter-American Fellowship Program in Tropical Medicine, which is financed by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Dr. William W, Frye, dean of the LSU Medical School and vice-president of LSU, is director of the program.
The specific training each student will undertake has been programmed here by Dr. J. Clyde
Swargzwelder, head of the Department of Tropical Medicine and Medical Parasitology at LSU. Dr. Frye said each student will experience clinical and basic science approaches to the diseases endemic to the area to which he is assigned.
