Variety, however, has a long-standing motto, 'The Heart of Show Business,' which is used in its public service and charity projects.
"Variety's Tent 45, in its recent mailings and publicity in connection with the Jan. 17 Cinerama benefit, has asked that checks be sent to Heart Fund, Variety Tent 45, P. 0. The term 'Heart Fund' was used in reference to Variety's motto but without intention to imply that its Cinerama benefit was to be held for the Louisiana Heart Association's Heart Fund and its medical programs."
Several physician leaders of the Louisiana Heart Association expressed praise for Tent 45's projects in behalf of a proposed hospital for children. Among these was Efr* Richard L. Fowler, pro-f essdY^ncT' head of pediatrics, LSU medical school, and .president of the Louisiana Heart Association. Dr. Fowler said: . "New Orleans is the largest city in the country without a large general hospital for children. Such a project in my opinion, is certainly deserving of support. We have felt, however, that a public clarification of the 'Heart Fund* phrase was needed."
