Dr. Robert G. Miller,and Dr. Daniel A. Wray have been honored as the year's two outstanding interns at Touro infirmary at the annual intern-resident banquet at the infirmary.
Dr. Miller, a native of New Orleans and a 1961 graduate of Louisiana State university school of medicine, received the top award as "Intern of the Year," He was presented a $100 check by Dr. Raul Reyes, chairman of the hospital's intern-resident committee.
Dr. Wray, a native of Baton Rouge and a 1961 graduate of Tulane university school of medicine, received the Rudolph Matas award. The gold medal is presented annually to the outgoing intern who has displayed the greatest ability and zeal in the service of Touro.
Thirty-six interns and residents were honored at the dinner. Dr. James T. McQuitty, the guest speaker, told them that the challenge facing the doctors of tomorrow will be totally unique.
"Hard work alone will not be enough," he said. "You must understand the community in which you reside and work.diligently for its well-being."
