George J. Boos has been re-elected chairman of the St. Bernard parish committee of the Social Welfare Planning Council.
Other officers, named a^ i meeting Wednesday night at [Bud's Flower Room, include Dr. Ralph Dauterive, vice-chairman, and Mrs. Lucille Lorio, secretary.
During the meeting, Dr. James H. Neely, administrator of the Louisiana Evaluation Center, discussed "Long-Range Plans for Mental Health Service in the New Orleans Area."
He said these plans include a psychiatric institute connected with Tulane university and Louisiana State university to be erected yuinelime during me next five years, possibly near Charity hospital.
Also planned are community clinics-throughout the state which; can provide patients released j from state mental hospitals andj clinics with daily out-patient treat-, ment, Dr. Neely said.
"There is often no follow-up treatment on many patients released from these hospitals," he said, •."and these clinics will fill that need. Also, they may keep many persons from having to enter mental hospitals at all."
He said that several services will be incorporated in the new mental health center to open soon in Algiers.. These will include evaluation, therapy and research.
