Dr. Gene L. Usdin has been Installed as new president of the Louisiana State Psychiatric Association and of the New Orleans Society of Neurology and Psychiatry. He succeeds Dr. Edward Knight. ~ He and the other new officers of the two organizations were introduced at a joint meeting of the association, the society of the De Paul hospital staff held at the hospital.
The joint meeting was held to provide the members of the medical societies an opportunity to become better acquainted with the extensive psychiatric treatment facilities at De Paul. Tours of the facilities were held preceding the meeting.
Other new officers of the psychiatric association include Dr. Harold Leif, president-elect; Dr. Erie Harris of Shreveport, first-vice-president; Dr. George Burke of Baton Rouge, second vice-president; Dr. William Super, secretary, and Dr. Harold F. Bolding, treasurer.
New Officers of the neurology and psychiatry society include Dr. Marvin Miller, secretary and Dr. William Sorum, treasurer.
Also attending the meeting were members of the Orleans Parish Medical Society, headed by Dr. John F. Oakley, president.
Presenting technical talks during the meeting were Dr. Robert G. Heath, chairman of the department of neurology and psychiatry at Tulane university school of medicine, and Dr. Charles Watkins, head of The Louisiana State university medical school's neurology and psychiatry department.
