The Louisiana Heart Association, at a meeting in Lafayette, named Dr. Richard L. Fowler of New Orleans its president.
Dr. Fowler is head of the pediatrics department of the Louisiana State university medical school. He succeeds Dr. Harold P. Chastant of Lafayette in the heart post.
Dr. Page W. Acree of Baton Rouge, a heart and chest surgeon, is the new president-elect ■^ association. He will sue-to the presidency next year.
Other new officers: Dr. Robert R. Burch of New Orleans, Dr. Thomas Deas of Homer and Dr. Elliott Roy of Mansura, vice-presidents; Dr. David Buttross Jr. of Lake Charles, secretary; and Henry J. Miltenberger, New Orleans, treasurer.
The two-day Heart Association meeting ended over the week end at the Lafayette auditorium. The association's new documentary film, ''The Search," was shown for the first time.
Speakers at a public forum included Dr. Edgar Hull, associate dean of the LSU medical school, and Dr. Alton Ochsner [Jr., New Orleans heart and ! blood vessel surgeon.
Nurses heard talks by Dr. Irving L. Rosen of Touro infirmary; Dr. Clifford W. Braek-enridge of the LSU school of medicine and Miss Beverly Nordmann of the Tulane university medical school.
