Drs. Cleve B. Baker and Donald L. Block were honored as outstanding Interns at Touro infirmary during the past year at the hospital's resident banquet Thursday night.
Dr. Baker was named intern of the year and received a $100 check and a Touro pin from Dr. John C. Mackenzie, hospital director. Dr. Baker is a native of Palo Alto, Calif., and a graduate of the Stanford university school of medicine.
Dr. Block received the Rudolph Matas Award, presented to the outgoing intern who has displayed the greatest ability and zeal in the service of the infirmary. Dr. Block is a 1960 graduate of Louisiana State university school of medicine. He is a native of Thibodaux, La.
In all, 36 interns and residents were feted at the banquet.
Guest speaker was Dr. Irvin Cahen, chief of the hospital's orthopedic section.
