Dr. Richard E. Wolf, director of the pediatric psychiatry clinic at Cincinnati's Childrens hospital
and an associate professor at the University of Cincinnati medical school, told the group that a child's raids on the cookie jar could be omens of more serious crimes to come.
Too often, he said parents ignore disrespect for private property as long as the fault is kept within the family, Parents guilty of such laxity shouldn't be shocked when the child begins to steal from the corner drug store.
On the other hand, loving parents who let a child know what is and is not expected of him prepare the child to enter the larger
community outside of the home, Dr. wolf said.
