Scores of awards, for outstanding services, were presented volunteers Friday after-; noon at a meeting of the Greater New Orleans Area Unit of the Louisiana Division Inc., American Cancer Society.
The awards went to five-year volunteers, to those who participated in the 1960 American Cancer Crusade and to representatives of newspapers, television and radio stations.
Certificates of merit for the Crusade volunteers were presented by ""Mrs. Arthur Waters, residential chairman for the society, while Edward D, Rapier, president of the Greater New Orleans unit, presented the five-year volunteer awards. The meeting was held at the Royal Orleans hotel and was followed by an informal get-together.
The top award went to Craw- j ford H. Ellis, 1960 Crusade chairman, who because of illness was unable to attend.
In presenting awards to the
five-year volunters, Rapier said the American Cancer Society is the only entity in the world with a three-fold plan to fight cancer.
