Dr. Cornelius Gorman, Orleans physician, has been named major in command of the Third Battalion of the 106th Medical Regiment of the National Guard, it was announced by Colonel Mogabgab, commander of the regiment, who also announced several other appointments and promotions.
Major Gorman, a native of Lynchburg, Va., professor of pathology at Loyola university, and an instructor in surgery in the graduate department or the Louisiana State university medical center, formerly served as captain commanding Company G, of the 106th medical regiment. He will be succeeded in that post by Dr. Chester S. Fresh, Colonel Mogabgab said.
Dr. Marion Ledoux, Lieutenant Mark O. Carey, Jr., and Lieutenant Peter J. Salettes, Jr., all of New Orleans, were appointed to first lieutenant commissions. Dr. Ledoux was assigned to Company G of the 106th medical regiment; Lieutenant Salettes will serve with the medical administrative corps of the regiment, and Lieutenant Carey has been assigned to serve as adjutant for the Third Battalion.
Joachim E. D'Aquin, also an Orleanian, was appointed second lieutenant in the medical administrative corps and has been assigned as officer-executive in the division surgeon's office of the 31st division.
