A three-day joint meeting of the Louisiana Pathology Society and the Gulf Region College of American Pathologists will be held at the Louisiana State university school of medicine Friday through Sunday.
Dr. Monroe S. Samuels, clinical assistant professor of pathology and medicine, is chairman of local arrangements.
A feature of the meeting will be a day long seminar on "Hemolytic Mechanisms" Saturday.
Dr. Israel Davidsohn, professor of pathology and head of the | department, Chicago medical school, will conduct the session along with Dr. Charles C. Sprague, associate professor, division of hematology, Tulane university school of medicine,
Hemolysis is concerned with the breakdown and destruction of red cells, Dr. Samuels said. It is the major factor causing anemia in many disease conditions.
Dr. Davidsohn, who is a graduate of * the ^University of Vienna Medica school, is the .author of 135 scientific papers dealing with immunologic, hematologic and pathologic Investigation.
He is a past president of the Illinois Society of Pathologists, the Chicago Pathological Society, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, American Association of Blood Banks and is presently a director-at-large of the American Cancer Society, Illinois division.
Dr. "Ralph Hartwell, Hotel Dieu pathologist and president of the Louisiana Pathology Society, will serve as moderator for the opening scientific sessions at 9 a. m. Friday in the school auditorium.
Presenting papers will be Dr. John Moossy, assistant professor of pathology and neurology, LSU; Dr. Thomas D. Davis, clinical instructor of pathology LSU; Dr. Myron F. Beeler, clinical assist ant professor, LSU; John U. Nidalgo, research associate, biophysics program, Tulane, and Dr. James B. Pe-cot, department of pathology at Charity hospital.
Dr. Ulysses H. Stoer, pathologist, Schumpert sanitari-jum, Shreveport will moderate i the afternoon session. Papers 'will be delivered by Dr. Ronald A. Welsh, assistant professor, LSU; Dr. Charles L. Brown, instructor in medicine, Tulane; Dr. Rudolph J. Muel-ling, associate professor, LSU; Dr. Louis Stern, pathology department, Charity hospital.
