Dr. John C. Mackenzie, direo tor of Touro infirmary, annouced [Wednesday the appointment of Dr. Wallace Merriam as chief of anesthesia, and Dr. Melyin D. Steiner as head of the department of gynecology.
Additional annoucements ofstaff ;octors, to head the departmental services, included the re-appointment of sixteen other doctors. l
Chiefs of services appointed for additional one-year terms are Dr. Sidney L. Soniat, gastroenterolo-gy; Dr. Allan Goldman, medicine; Dr. Conrad Wall, neuropsychia-try; Dr. Howard Karr, neurosur-gery; Dr. George D. B. Berkett, orthopedics; Dr. Samuel Zurik, otolaryngology; Dr. Suzanne Schaefer, pediatrics; Dr. Samuel Karlin, surgery; and and Dr. Gilbert Tomskey, urology.
Three department directors re-appointed were Dr. Ambrose Hertzog, pathology; Dr. Arthur R. Rayzant, radiology; and Dr, Hames Tate, physical medicine.
The appointees will help plan the new seven-story medical* surgery wing at Touro. Construction is expected to start the latter part of this year.
