What should be done when a patient's heart suddenly stops during an operation or during illness?
Approximately 400 young physicians will be given an answer to this question at a program to be held Wednesday at 3 p. m. under the auspices of the Louisiana Heart Association and its local unit, the New Orleans Heart Council.
The program or short course will be presented at the Delga-do amphitheater of Charity hospital. It will be repeated on Wednesday, August 5.
All internes and residents of local hospitals have been invited to attend, according to Dr. George E. Welch, chairman of the professional education committee for the local heart council.
The program will be entitled "Cardiac Arrest, Cause, Prevention and Management."
Speakers will include Dr. John Adriani, director of anesthesio-logy at Charity hospital, and Dr. Robert J. Schramel, assistant professor of surgery at the Tu-lane university school of medicine.
Dr. Welch said the course is part of the committee's continuing program to bring the latest information about treatment of heart disease to physicians and nurses.
