Dr. Alvar P. Wilska of Helsinki, Finland, has been appointed visiting professor of cell research at the Louisiana State university school of medicine, according to Dr. William W. Frye, LSU dean.
''Dr. Wilska is one of the world's authorities on electron microscopy and is now developing a new instrument which is expected to simplify and improve the instrumentation necessary in this field," Dr. Frye said.
The electron microscope uses an electron beam instead of a light as radiant energy which can make images of much smaller objects than those made by the ordinary light microscope, he explained,
Dr. Wilska will continue his work on the new electron microscope and inaugurate additional research projects in the department of anatomy with Dr. Frank N. liow, LSU professor anc! direc-tor~oF the electron microscope laboratory at Charity Hospital.
