Charity hospital has been awarded a grant by the U. S. public health service to participate in a nationwide study directed toward the development of preventatives for eerebra) palsy, mental retardation and related neurological disorders. | Dr. Leo J. Kerne, hospital director, made the announcement Tuesday night at the hospital's monthly board of administrators meeting.
The hospital, he said, received $168,167 for initiation of the program in 1958 and will be granted $262,725 annually for j the next four years to provide | for the studies.
The hospital, he continued, is one of 13 medical centers engaged in the collaborative study, which is co-ordinated by the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Blindness of Bethesda, Md, The institute is part of the National Institutes of Health, principal research units of the public health service.
