Four hundred thirty-five students are expected to enroll at the Louisiana State university school of medicine when registration gets under way Aug. 28.
Dr WilliamW. Frye, dean, said classes will begin Sept. 3. He said first-year students are expected to total 125; second-year, 104, third-year, 109 and seniors, 97,
A professional course, leading to the degree of bachelor ox science in medical technology has been added to the curriculum, Dean Frye said. Such a course, he pointed out, prepares candidates for profession-al careers in research or clinical work.
The new course consists of three years of study at the main campus in Baton Rouge in the college of chemistry and; physics and a fourth year of study in a hospital associated jwith the medical school. Dean Frye said the fourth year will consist of bath didactic and laboratory work.
Graduates of this program, j said the dean, are eligible to take the national registry examination of the Registry of' Medical Technologists of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
