Shelving of an ordinance seeking to increase the supply of dogs for medical research projects in the New Orleans area sprely hinders the progress of science in its search for curative knowledge.
City council president Glenn P. Clasen disclosed Thursday that the council had quietly shelved an ordinance that would allow unclaimed, stray dogs to be turned over to approved medical centers.
It's not surprising that Dr. Wil-liam W. Frye. dean of the Louisiana State university medical school, and Dr. M. E. Lapham, dean of the Tulane university medical school, should express disappointment over the council's failure to consider the measure.
