Dr. Philip West, Boyd professor of chemistry at Louisiana State university, will speak on "Air Pollution" at the two-day annual conference of the Louisiana Society of Medical Technologists in Baton Rouge April 26 and 27.
Dr. West is internationally known for his work in analytical chemistry and is associated in an advisory capacity with the Taft Research Center's study of air pollution.
Other principal speakers will be
Dr. Marion Hood, microbiologist at Charity hospital in New Orleans, and Miss Norma Bender, chief blood bank technologist at the Baton Rouge General hospital.
Dr. Hood will speak on lister-osis, an infection from bacteria-causing meningitis of newborn children. The disease has been recognized in Louisiana more than in any other state.
