Ultimate eradication of polio, through use of the new live virus, oral vaccine, was visualized here Wednesday by Dr. Albert Sabin, of Cincinnati, Ohio, who perfected the vaccine.
Use of the live virus" vaccine should mean that eventually there will be no polio in those portions of the world where the vaccine is used, added Dr. Sabin, who is professor of research pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati Medical school.
The genial, easy-to-talk-to scientist said "this spells the difference between live and dead vaccine." Dr. Sabin said "the dead vaccine does not interfere with the spread of virus, the live vaccine does/'
