Ten teachers m United States medical schools were in New Orleans Thursday en route to Puerto Rico-and Costa Rica to study tropical medicine,
Their tour marks the start of a fellowship program for teachers to obtain practical experience in the Central American tropics.
The program is starting its second year of operation under a grant from the China Medical Board of New York to the school of medicine of Louisiana State university,
The program is conducted-by Dr. Henry E. Meleney, research professor of medicine, and Dr, William W, grye, dean and professor of tropical medicine, both of LSU.
Dr. Meleney said the group Will study diseases of various types, including hookworm, yellow fever and nutritional disorders.
