Dr. Walter J. Hollis, 35-year-old instructor at Louisiana State university's school of medicine, has developed a roller bearing ballisto-cardiogram, a useful tool in evaluating coronary heart disease.
The roller bearing supported platform gives instrumental measurements of the recoil of the body caused by the pumping of the blood! from the heart.
Through the use of the platform bed, Dr. Hollis said, the effect of medications given for heart failure can be followed with the instrument's tracings, which could reveal either maximum or poor therapeutic results.
