here's no false ballyhoo about the polio vaccination ...
Dr. C. H. Webb, Shreveport, attending a closed executive session of the Louisiana State Medical Society here today, said in an interview ."there is no chance in
a million that the results of the Salk tests could be wrong."
"But polio isn't the top crippler and killer of children. There are still accidents. Accidents take a far greater toll of children's lives than polio has ever done."
"Accidents kill far more than any single disease," Dr. Webb, former president of the Louisiana Pediatrical Society, said. ''Poisons, falls, drownings, automobiles hold the greatest threats to our children."
Dr. Webb followed the same line of reasoning of Dr. A. A. Herold, Shreveport, who said last night that public excitement over polio attacks among children who received the shots is unfounded. More Time Needed
"We can't expect any real success from this national campaign for about a year. But eventually we are optimistic that the disease
may disappear as we vaccinate more and more of the children. But that, of course, will take time, a little more time than we have had."
The 75th annual meeting of the society opened today with a pre-i convention executive board meeting at the Roosevelt hotel.
