Two New Orleans university professors will get a share of $2,270,210 for grants-in-aid awarded by the American Cancer Society for cancer research, according to Harry McEnerny Jr., president of the Louisiana division of the society.
Dr. Walter J. Burdette, Louisiana State university medical school, will get $9936 for experiments on cancer with a hormone acquired from fruit flies. And a grant of $7000 will go to Dr. Edwin D. Kilbourne, Tulane university, for a study to learn how latent viruses become active.
