New officers were installed in the Orleans Parish Medical Society Monday night at the organization's 77th annual installation banquet at the Roosevelt* hotel.
Dr. J. 0. Weilbaecher Jr. took over as president for 1954 and succeeded Dr. Sam Hobson. Dr. Edgar Hull, who is president elect, will serve in 1955.
In his address Dr. Weilbaecher declared, "There is a further need for a better understanding by the membership at large of the activities of our society, and the many medico-economic problems which affect the private practice, of medicine."
Publications, he continued, "show that there is still a strong tendency on the part of some government officials and organized groups throughout the country to bring industry and the professions more and more under government control."
