"Undue concern" by the relatives of heart attack patients often instills false fear in the victim and delays his return to work, a leading doctor told a medical alumni meeting.
The meeting was the annual session of the Louisiana State University Medical Alumni Assn., ■ which assembled Friday at the Baton Rouge campus.
Dr. Andrew S. Kerr, assistant professor of medicine, said "about 70 per cent of the patients who have had heart attacks are able to return to work and to lead useful lives."
He urged that families of such patients not show exaggerated concern because it delays adjustment.
Dr. Warren Raggio of Lake Charles was eleced president of the alumni.
