Home care for acute poliomyelitis patients, under medical supervision, usually is as adequate as treatment in specialized hospitals, according to a Tulane university pediatrician.
The program honored Dr. Ernest Carroll Faust, who this year completed 25 years as professor of the university's department of parasitology.
A portrait of Dr. Faust, sponsored by his associates and students, was presented to the school of medicine following a tribute to him by Dr. Henry E. Meleney, research professor of medicine at Louisiana State university. In a review of Dr. Faust's work as scientist and teacher, Dr. Meleney described him as the man who has had the greatest influence on the development of human parasitology in the United States in this generation.
