Dr. George J. Taquino, head of the department of otolaryngology at the Louisiana State university school of medicine, died Saturday at 4:30 a. m. at Hotel Dieu after a brief illness. He was 68.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 9:30 a. m. from the House of Bultman, 3338 St. Charles, followed by requiem mass at 10 a. m. at Holy Name of Jesus church on the Loyola university campus. Interment will be in Lakelawn Park on Pontchartrain blvd.
Dr. Edgar Hull, acting dean of the LSU medical school, said that classes, scheduled to start Monday in the school, have been postponed until Tuesday out of respect to Dr. Taquino# Dr. Taquino was senior visiting surgeon at Charity hospital, Hotel Dieu and Touro infirmary. He held membership in a number of medical societies and was the author of numerous treatises in various medical journals.
