NEW IBERIA, La., April 26-. A crowd estimated at 3000 gathered in the little town of Delcambre Sunday morning to honor Dr. Adolph Landry, who completes 50 years of medical practice in that community April 29.
The doctor, reportedly one of two doctors in the entire United States to have practiced medicine for 50 consecutive years in the same locality was visibly touched by the demonstration.
Sunday, by order of Mayor Euda Delcambre and members of the council, was dedicated as "Doctor Landry Day" in Delcambre. A special mass was celebrated at 8:30 a. m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic church, where hundreds of residents joined in a general'. communion to honor the man who has probably touched the lives of every individual in this Louisiana fishing capital and the outlying-area. ¦¦:•;;
With t)r. Landry observing his 50 years in medicine were his two sons, Dr. Edwin Landry, prominent physician and surgeon: of New Iberia, and Roy Landry, student at the LSU medical school in New Orleans. Both are carrying on in the medical tradition.
