Dr. Myron E. Wegman, professor of pediatrics and head of the de partment of pediatrics at Louisiana State university's medical school is leaving to take over an international medical assignment.
He has been named director of the division of education and train ing services for the Pan-American sanitary bureau, regional office of the World Health Organization for the Americas.
This is a specialized agency of the United Nations, It has headquarters in Washington, D. C., and Dr, Wegman will head the work for the entire Western Hemisphere. Dr, William W. Frye, dean of the LSU medical school, said, "It is a loss to our school for Dr. Wegman has made a great contribution to pediatric and medical education at LSU. But he will be able to use his talents in this bigger assignment to make an even greater contribution to international medicine. It's nice to know we have the kind of men here that can fill such positions. I feel that this shows the growing importance of our staff and our influence as a medical school throughout the country."
