Dr. Edwin W. Tucker, formerly of New Orleans and now of Carmel, Calif, will address the New Orleans Committee for Education on Alcoholism at 4 p. m. Wednesday at a meeting at the Norman Mayer Memorial building, 211 Camp.
George S. Frierson Jr.., committee chairman, said Monday that Dr. Tucker, a graduate of the Tu-lane university school of medi-cine, has been treating alcoholics since his release from a Japanese prisoner of war camp in 1945.
Dr. Tucker is in New Orleans to do special work in cardiology at Charity hospital and at the Louisiana State university school of medicine. He will discuss "The Modern Medical Approach to the Problem of Alcoholism" An Army doctor stationed on Bataan in 1941, Dr. Tucker was captured by the Japanese and spent all of World War II as a prisoner, first in the Philippines and later in Japan.
