The state Hospital Board was told yesterday that the state Board of Liquidation has approved a request for $200,000 additional money to operate four charity hospitals.
Jesse H. Bankston, state hospital director, said the money has been designated as follows: $100,-000 for Lafayette Charity Hospital; $65,000 for Lallie Kemp Charity Hospital; $27,000 for Huey P. Long Charity Hospital, and $15,000 for the Washington-St. Tammany Hospital. .
Appropriation of the money must still be made by the state Legislature, Mr. Bankston said.
The Hospital Board met at Charity Hospital. They went on a tour of medical schools, DePaul Sanitarium, Touro Infirmary and the new psychiatric unit at Charity Hospital.
