A $6 million bond issue for Louisiana State University got approval yesterday by
66-2 vote in the House.
Rep. Percy Roberts, one of the authors of the bill, said the medical school would get about $2,500,-000, and $1,500,000 would be used to add an estimated 30,000 seats to the stadium. The remaining $2 million would go to a library and auditorium.
Rep Roberts said that the additions to the medical school in New Orleans would permit an increase of 10 to 15 per cent in the number of students.
This came near the end of a busy day in the House, which adjourned yesterday afternoon until p. m. Sunday. The Senate, which quit for the week-end Thursday, will meet again at 6 p. m. Sunday.
Earlier yesterday, the House passed a bill that would empower state, city and parish governments to fire public employes and state college officials to expel students if they are guilty of subversive activity. LOYALTY OATHS
It would also require all public employes to take loyalty oaths and might make them liable to jail sentences if they perjure them- selves by taking the oath or breaking it later.
Under the bill, which passed by
66-2 vote, no employe or stu-dent would be dismissed without a hearing. Rep. Algie Brown' of Caddo Parish, author of the bill, told the lawmakers the measure' would "help combat Communism."
