| Facilitator Log | 1:30 AM was born in Gonzales, LA in 1931, AM's parents were very dedicated to AM. She had 1 sister and 4 brothers. AM's father worked on the railroad and her mother was a school bus driver. AM's mother was the first woman school bus driver in the Gonzales area and she faced a lot of resistance from the community (especially because she was black). 10:00 AM is a Baptist and a very strong believer. AM attends 2nd Promethean Baptist Church in New Orleans. AM is on the deacon trustee board and has sung in the choir for many, many years. 'I couldn't make it without Christ.' 19:00 In Gonzales, AM's family grew vegetables -- mustard greens, shallots, sugar cane, etc -- and raised chickens, hogs, and horses. AM's mother set a good example for AM -- she learned to be strong from her mothers. 28:00 AM learned to cook from her mother. She makes baked ham, BBQ ribs, sweet potato pies, etc. AM's family from Gonzales always comes to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. 34:00 AM loves to cook and share with friends and family. |
