| Title | An analysis of the effects of moment of inertia on the rotation of a rattleback |
| Author | Davis, Coby L. |
| Keywords | University of New Orleans. Honors thesis. 1994.; University of New Orleans. Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. |
| Abstract/Introduction | Certain objects, when rotated in a given direction, will stop, rock back and forth for a short time, then rotate in the opposite direction. These objects, known as rattlebacks, are inertially biased toward rotation in the sense opposite the actual sense of rotation. This thesis examines the dynamics of this motion based upon a theoretical analysis from the engineering literature. |
