Official Gets
New Position
Dr. Carl Goodman, acting
head of the Department of
Orthopedics at the LSU Medical
School, has been named medical
director of the Northwest Loui-siana
Rehabilitation Center.
Kenneth Russell, head of the
center, made the a n n o u n c e-ment.
The p o s i t i o n is part-time,
Russell said.
Goodman will examine clients
as to their prognosis, individual
potential and physical condition.
There are five individual
clients at the center now,
Russell said, but patients are
being interviewed every week.
He estimated that it will be
two or three months before the
will be residents at the center,
but utilization will depend on
the needs of the area.
Robert Price has been hired
as the female training instructor
and Russell plans to have the
male training instructor on the
staff within the next two weeks.
The main purpose of the
center, Russell said, it is to get
the individual back into employ-ment,
or, in lieu of that, to help
him to go back home and be
independent, "perhaps relieving
someone else to go out and
work.
"Hopefully, in the future,
every one of them can be
employed," he added.
