20 Area Legislators Invited
To Lunch, Confederate Tour
Twenty area legislators have
been invited to lunch, which
includes a tour of the Confeder-ate
Memorial Medical Center
facilities, Tuesday according to
Dr. Edgar Galloway, director of
the hospital.
The Confederate B o a r d of
Directors voted at it last session
to invite the Northwest area
legislators to take a look at the
institution which is also the
teaching hospital for the Loui-
School at Shreveport.
S p e a k i n g to the incoming
lawmakers will be Dr. William
Stewart of New Orleans, chan-cellor
for the LSU Medical
Center. Dr. Edgar Hull, dean of
the medical school, and Gallo-way.
Also expected to be present
are T. B. Lanford, chairman of
the Confederate Board of direc-*
tors, and the board members.
In the letter of invitation to
the legislators, Galloway said
the visit will "give us an
opportunity to acquaint you with
our facilities . . . and inform
you of some of our plans."
The luncheon will get under
way at noon, and guided tours
will be taken afterwards. In the
board meeting, Lanford suggest-ed
that the l e g i s l a t o r s be
divided into groups for a
intensive look see at the hospi-tal.
Area senators extended an
invitation were C. Kay Carter
and Jackson B. Davis, both of
Shreveport; H a r o l d Montgo-mery
of Doyline; Don William-son
of Vivian; Paul Foshee of
Natchitoches, and K.D. Kilpa-trick
of Ruston.
Representatives on the list
were F o r r e s t Dunn, B. F.
O'Neal, Alphonse Jackson Jr.,
V. C. Shannon, and A. W. Sour
all of Shreveport; James Wilson
of Vivian; Walter 0. Bigby of
Bossier City; Jesse Deen of
Benton; R. Harmon Drew of
Minden; E. L. "Bubba" Henry
of Jonesboro; Louise Johnson of
Bernice; H. M. "Mutt" Fowler
of Coushatta; Jimmy D. Long of
Natchitoches; Joe Cooper of
Mansfield.
