There will be 31 graduates in
the first class of the Louisiana
State University Medical School
at Shreveport which will hold
commencement exercises May
2.6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Civic
Theater.
Gov. Edwin Edwards will be
the speaker and his topic is
"Yours Is a Heritage of Trust."
Dr. Martin D. Woodin, presi-dent
of the LSU System, will
confer degrees.
Dr. William H. Stewart of
New Orleans, chancellor of the
LSU Medical Center, will deliv-er
the address of welcome and
George K. Harrison, president
of the class, will deliver the
class message.
Also on the program are Dr.
Edgar Hull, dean of the school,
who will present the candidates
for degrees and administer the
oath of Hippocrates to the new
physicians; Msgr. John C. Van-degaer.
pastor of Holy Trinitv
Catholic Church, invocation, and
the Rev. L o w e l l C. Todd,
chaplain of the Shreveport Ve-terans
Administration Hospital,
benediction.
Dr. William T. McElroy, as-sociate
dean of the school of
medicine, will preside.
