Dr. Edgar Hull
Sets Retirement
For July, 1973 ca 1971
Dr. Edgar Hull's decision to
retire July 1. 1973, as dean of
the Louisiana State University
Medical School here will be
announced Friday at the LSU
Board of Supervisors' meeting
in Baton Rouge.
Dr. William Stewart of New
O r l e a n s , chancellor of the
LSU Medical Center, said a
search c o m m i t t e e will be
appointed to look for a new
dean. The committee of seven
members will include full and
part-time faculty members of
the LSU Medical School in
Shreveport.
Hull will retire within days
after the first class of the
LSU-Shreveport Medical
School is graduated.
Hull, who has taught about
60 per cent of the doctors in
Louisiana, was named interim
dean of the local medical
school in 1966 and later was
appointed dean.
He has been a member of
the university's medical facul-
:y for almost 40 years, serving
as associate dean of the LSI!
School of Medicine in New
Orleans since 1954. He was !
also professor and head of the
Department of M e d i c i n e.
When he was named dean of
the local school, he was given
the academic rank of profes-sor.
Last year, he became a
Master of the American Col-lege
of Physicians, an award
given to a Fellow of the
American College of Surgeons
who, in the- opinion of the
awards committee, has made
outstanding contributions to
he college or community.
