COPPING NAMED
TO HEAD CENTER
LSU Medical Unit Post
Pilled by Supervisor
Dr. Allen A. Copping was
named chancellor of the
Louisiana S t a t e University
Medical Center Thursday by
the LSU System Board of Su-pervisors
meeting at LSU in
Baton Rouge.
Copping had served as dean
of the LSU School of Dentistry
since April 6. Dr. Edmund E.
Jeansonne was appointed to
the post of acting dean of the
School of Dentistry.
Dr. Jeansonne will serve as
acting dean until the post is
filled by the board.
A native of New Orleans,
Dr. Copping joined the faculty
of the LSU Medical Center
through the School of Dentist-ry
in 1968. He is a graduate of
the Loyola University School
of Dentistry, receiving his
doctor of dental surgery de-gree
in 1949.
He holds the rank of full
professor in t te LSU School of
Dentistry's Department o f
Fixed Prosthodontics.
Dr. Copping replaces Dr.
William H. Stewart, who re-signed
to accept appointment
by Gov. Edwin W. Edwards
as commissioner of the Louisi-ana
State Health and Social
Rehabilitatio,n Services Ad-ministration.
